Caeruleus Bedlington Terriers

Hello and welcome to the web-site for Caeruleus Bedlington Terriers.

We have been showing, breeding and loving these fabulous dogs for about 10 years now.

For those of you who are new to this breed, Bedlingtons are probably the perfect dog (we are not biased). They are a good size (about 16 inches at shoulder) and so can easily be picked up! They have a beautiful, linty coat that does not shed (so is good for those who like their clothes and furniture to remain non-hairy and for those with allergies) and also does not smell. They can run with you all day (and are a truly graceful sight when at full gallop) or they can spend the day lounging around with you,- and are equally happy with both options. They are loyal, very affectionate and intelligent. They are a true terrier, and can be a working dog if need be. They are not yappy dogs - they bark only for a good reason. They love to play and love to be combed (preferably when lying on your lap in front of the TV). They are not aggressive, though will defend themselves if needed. See, we told you they are perfect dogs!!

Caeruleus Bedlingtons are based in Penrose, in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. Our seven Beddies run riot over our house and the attached five acres, having a fantastic time, chasing rabbits and smells and (mostly) not disturbing our gardens.

Our relationship with Bedlingtons was love at first sight - we saw this wonderful dog for the first time at the Melbourne Dog Show many years ago. We had the joy of owning our first beddie puppy (Trooper) and then the heartbreak when he succumbed at an early age to a rare genetic brain disease. After this, we read and studied as much as we could and started on a mission to improve the breed and gene pool in Australia so that more people could enjoy these great dogs as pets and show dogs, without the worry of inherited diseases. We travelled to England to meet top breeders who had worked over many years to breed happy, healthy dogs. These breeders were kind enough to allow us to import some of their precious babies to help the breed in Australia. Our kennel would not be what it is without the help of Pat and Pam from Dalip Bedlingtons, Ken Bounden from Tol-pedn Bedlingtons and Chris Mayers from Tcheria Bedlingtons. Thanks guys!

Our aim is to breed true-to-type Bedlingtons with great temperament. We have 6 Australian Champions. All our dogs are clear of copper toxicosis (1:1 clear) and we only ever breed from clear stock. We have a litter, on average, once every two years or so.

If you would like to know more about bedlingtons, we'd be happy to talk all day about our passion! Please contact us.
