A poodle makes up his mind about you with deliberation, and, after due consideration, places you in his world and very seldom changes his mind about your worth. If you and he are to be friends or better, he gives you his full ,undivided devotion, and, from that time on, your moods and your commands are his sole concern in life. But this is on a friend to friend basis of perfect equality. He expects from you the same loving and understanding that he gives you. If you fail him, he will still love you but his admiration will slip a little. His full devotion is usually for one person only, after which he includes the immediate family in various graduations of affectionate regard.

Poodles are dependent on human companionship and understanding. Without it they become distrustful and morose. Poodles love  human companionship. It is their extreme sensitiveness that makes them such delightful companions, quick to respond to even unspoken thoughts, but it is this same quality that makes them all the more sensitive to unkindness. They seldom need correction other than the spoken word.
