Welcome, my name's Vicki Scott, founder of BARJARZ French Bulldog Kennels and custodian of four crazy, lovable Frenchies. BARJARZ French Bulldogs is a small, home-based boutique kennel located in the leafy outer suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. All of my dogs are much indulged household pets, and accompany me to work on a day to day basis. They regularly go for "sleepovers" at their Aunty Bev's when my workplace gets too hectic, or when they feel like a change of scenery!
French Bulldogs are still a relatively rare sight in Melbourne, and I had seen only one other outside of the show ring before I purchased my first and most beloved Frenchie, Beatrice, as a pet in 2002. As is often the way with this delightful breed, one is never enough and I soon had two more canine clowns in the household, Orson and Frannie. Frannie was my introduction to the world of dog showing and has been shown to her Australian Champion title ..... she is the foundation bitch for my kennel.
In 2005 Frannie produced my kennel's first ever litter, and subsequently begun to compete in agility trials as a novice competitor. I believe that she is the first French Bulldog to be trialed in agility in Victoria, perhaps in the whole of Australia! She certainly attracts a lot of attention wherevershe goes in the 'agility' community. Frannie's training was undertaken by Naomi Dunn, and in early 2007 Frannie became the first dual titled French Bulldog in Australia, gaining her Novice Jumping Dog title in spectacular style.
In 2006, I began to show Frannie's first born puppy, Beryl, with some success. Berly gained her Australian Champion title very quickly, her RUNNER UP IN GROUP at 11 months of age at a large metropolitan All Breeds show, was a real thrill! Frannie also produced her second free-whelped litter in 2006, and I added her daughter Blossom Dearie, a lovely clear pied, to my household.
Although my work schedule makes showing an infrequent event, Beryl and Blossom had a very successful 2007. Shown twice in the year, Beryl took out an Intermediate in Group and BEST OF BREED AT THE 2007 ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW. Blossom matured nicely, often pipped for the Bitch Challenge by her litter sister, Ch Barjarz Bombalina, owned and shown by Lyn Gunnell.
Since my girls have attained their Champion titles, I have shown them very infrequently. I still enjoy attending the major shows where Frenchies are exhibited in numbers as an appreciative spectator, such as the Royal Melbourne and the FBCV Specialty Show. On the home front my aim is, as always, to enjoy my dogs, to provide them with a great lifestyle and to reciprocate the boundless pleasure and affection that they give to me.
THE MAIN EVENT OF 2010 WILL BE THE MUCH ANTICIPATED ARRIVAL OF A LITTER OF PUPPIES IN MID-NOVEMBER. WE HAVEN'T HAD PUPS FOR ALMOST 18 MONTHS, SO THIS WILL BE A VERY EAGERLY AWAITED WHELPING. I WILL UPDATE THE PUPPY PAGE ON THIS WEBSITE WHEN THE LITTER ARRIVES.
Thank you for your interest in my dogs, French Bulldogs are a fantastic, vicacious breed that are lots of fun to have around.
