Testimonials

Welcome to the Testimonial page of Highcroft Cairn Terriers.

As purchasing a new companion is big decision socially and financially on a family I thought it would be of help for prospective puppy buyers to be able to read testimonials from families that have purchased a cairn from Highcroft Cairn Terriers.

We contacted Lisa at Highcroft Cairn Terriers in 2000 when we were looking for our next Cairn Terrier. We had an older Cairn female we found in a Canberra pound and fell in love with the breed, and this would be our third Cairn after losing our second male pup when he escaped from our yard.

Of course Lisa asked all the usual questions to make sure we would be fit owners of a Cairn and we now ask the same questions if we need to allow someone to puppysit our Cairns and this shows how dedicated Lisa is to her breeding.

We wanted a male Cairn to keep our female company. During the time that we were waiting for “Ralph” to be born Lisa would often call us to let us know how it was all going. And I would never forget the day when Lisa rang to let me know Ralph was born. A few months later and he was ours!

Lisa had already been calling Ralphy by his name which definitely made things a lot easier. When picking Ralph up from Lisa I was very happy with the surroundings all of the Cairns live. Lisa runs a very reputable breeding kennel with no back yard dirty kennels that when you see them you cringe. This process that Lisa uses; puts the Cairns in good stead for the rest of their puppy lives in regards to their health and temperament, and being able to associate with the rest of the Cairns about her property makes them well balanced and adjusted puppies.

I believe that because of the way Lisa breeds, Ralph has never had any problems with his health or attitude and he really enjoys playing with other dogs as well as us. Being in a Defence force family he always adjusted quickly with the traveling and moving from state to state. He would have the best temperament I have ever seen in a dog. Whereas Cairns from other sources that we have adopted into our family; definitely have lesser temperament, breeding and social qualities than Lisa’s Cairns.

The whole process of adopting a Cairn from Highcroft was a great experience and something we will definitely be doing again when we are looking for our next family member in the future. Thank you Lisa.

Billie Bracket:  All the terrier temperament and characteristics are presented to their best advantage in a companion/pet which is much loved.

His territorial instincts mainly confined to talk and "pretending" to be agressive are inconvenient only because of his lack of puppy training and intermittent discipline since.  No punishment only rewards for positive response when his hearing is turned on!
Friendly with adults and children alike and if properly introduced, visiting canines of both sexes.  Has a close Westie companion in Nessie whom he teases endlessly with bones left over from his or her evening meal.  To date his house training, which is his house not ours, since he lives outside with his kennel on the verandah, is, like his health, very good with no problems other than maintaining his needle programme.  A beauftiful, charming, scruffy, mischievious friend without vice.
Regards John and Robin.
