Spritzee By Design A.D. "Ryan"
Thank you for visiting my Website. Firstly I would like to give you a brief introduction to the Miniature Schnauzer.
Miniature Schnauzers are known for their ability to settle well into all ages of families and their bright happy personality quickly endears them to all whom they meet. They are clever little dogs and respond quickly and positively to modern training methods.
No breed of dog has a coat which is maintenance free. Breeds which shed their coats tend to leave hair all over your clothes, furniture, car and floor and many hours can be spent combing out the dead hair – and cleaning your home. Even very short coated dogs that moult will shed their coat over your clothes and home. In order to keep Miniature Schnauzers in the well known style it is necessary to have them clipped about every three months (or stripped twice a year if you wish to keep the harsh outer coat) as they do not moult their hair. You can learn to do this yourself or have a professional groomer clip your dog. We recommend that you learn to scissor trim around their eyes, anus and feet approximately every 3-4 weeks. The long hair left on their legs will look best if you keep it scissored a little more regularly than the overall clip. It is not difficult to learn how to carry out these tasks and your breeder should give you helpful information in this regard. In order to keep their “furnishings” matt free they require combing once or twice a week for about 5-10 minutes. The “tidy up” every 3-4 weeks should take about 20 minutes and a full clip takes around 30-45 minutes if you do it yourself. All in all, and provided you pay regular attendance to your dog’s coat, there is not a great expenditure of time involved. Should you decide you wish to show your Mini then there is considerably more time required in attending to their appearance.
There is no breed of dog which hasn’t had some health problem documented over time. People are no different! Provided you feed your dog correctly, maintain good hygiene for your dog, give it correct exercise and keep your dog in good body condition it is generally felt that these little dogs are members of a robust healthy breed. Occasionally eye problems have surfaced and we recommend that you ask the breeder to show you the current (no more than 12 months old at the time of mating the parents) eye certificates for both the parents of your puppy. A history of good eyes in the puppy’s forebears is an advantage – ask about the history.
As with all breeds of dogs we recommend you attend a dog obedience school in order to maximise your relationship with your dog. A terrific personality starts with a breeder rearing the litter correctly but then very much depends on the effort you are prepared to put into continuing with their upbringing.
