CHINESE CRESTED DOGS      

BACKGROUND TO KOREKE KENNELS
We are situated on a hillside above Lyttelton Harbour on beautiful Banks Peninsula, Koreke Kennels looks out over Quail Island. It is from this island that Koreke Kennels takes its name.

Our journey with Chinese Crested's started nine years ago. When Ch. Nun Of Tereiroa, and her Red hairless litter sister Atum Of Tererioa came to live with us. These pups delighted us with their antics and three years later they were joined by a Black hairless boy; Ch. Tengra Of Pughbear. He went on to win the Pedigree Breed Award in 2002 and 2003 and gained his Bronze Certificate of Merit.

Ch Koreke Danu Nir Eire was the result of a mating between Ch Nun of Tereiroa and Ch Tengra of Pughbear. She in turn is the mother of Ch Koreke Jubilare Bai Hu With Xioma (Binny) and Ch Koreke Aoede Encore With Xioma (Aoede), both these girls are Bronze Merit Award and Group Winners. Binny has won BOB at the National Dog Show in 2005 and 2006, she was ROB in 2007. Aoede was awarded Res In Show at the Canterbury Toy Show in 2006.

This year they have been joined in the show ring by two boys, Koreke Nerus Stella Maris, handled for us by Rebecca Chismar he already has many Res Of Breeds to his credit and Ch Koreke Vulcan Fire Omagi 

AUSTRALIAN CONNECTIONS - XIOMA KENNELS
We have been connected with the South Australian kennel of Xioma in Adelaide since 2002. Working in cooperation with Xioma has linked our breeding to Swedish and American lines. Ch Koreke Midgard Idun(Idun) sired by Aust Ch Prefix Smoke On The Water (Haze - Imp Sweden) was the result of our first collaboration.

Our first import Ch. Xioma Prince O Darkness, 'Prince' is a black and white puffer boy. He has the most wonderful willing nature and is a pleasure to have in the kennels.

Aust. Ch. Xioma Sagebrush arrived in 2004, bringing with him 4mth old Hecate; Ch Xioma Witches Brew. Hecate delights us with her dizzy show ring antics. Hecate and Prince have recently produced a wonderful litter for us.

In the Year he was with us Smudge won BOB at the 2004 NZ Nationals, gained his New Zealand Championship title, Bronze and Silver Merit Awards and many Group placings. Since returning home to Adelaide Smudge has been awarded his Australian Grand Championship

 Myrrdin

In July 2005 Ch. Xioma Dragon Of The Smoke arrived. Myrrdin is true hairless boy with a soft gentle temperament. Both Myrrdin and Hecate were sired by Swedish import to Australia; Ch. Prefix Smoke On The Water.

September 2007 has seen the arrival of Australian Grand Champion Xioma Fire In The Sky. 'Billy' arrived just in time to compete in the NZKC National Dog Show where he won Best of Breed and was pulled out in the final 5 for Best of Group. On the 13th Oct Billy was awared Res In Show at the All Breeds Championship show held in Timaru by Mr G Whitfield of Wellington.

On the 9th Dec under Judge Mr J Lowbridge of NSW Australia Billy went Best In Show in the Canterbury Junior Kennel Clubs Championship Show. As far as we are aware Billy is the first Chinese Crested Dog to win an All Breeds Championship Show in New Zealand. Our thanks to Mrs B Borjeson (Sweden) for the Breed and Group placeings.

Billy will remain at Koreke Kennels for the the next few months - we are looking forward to having a lot more fun with him.
