A little about us.
Whilst I have been involved in Showing Border Collies for only 16 years, we have always had working dogs either Kelpies or Borders on the farm as working dogs, when we were growing up. Although my first dog was Harmony Lodge Belle a registered Australian cattle dog. Coming from a Horse show, Eventing, show Jumping background, it has been a whole new learning curve into Dog showing and dog sports, always learning always studying, you never stop !!
We purchsed our first 'show' border in 2001, although Sparky was originally meant to be a 'pet' with a view to doing obedience, she turned into something quite special, and consequently set me on a whole new path and into the world of Dog shows !!!
We went to the Mudgee Kennel Club Annual 3 day show held here in Gulgong every August, to look at potential puppies for sale where we met Kylie Leslie from Trucharm border collies, she had a lovely bitch who was in whelp at the time Chloe, who was due a couple of weeks after the show, "Trucharm Royal Spirit" was in pup to the wonderful "BIS GR CH Monochrome Currency Creek" 'Monty', this was his first litter, we also we lucky to meet Neale and Linda Butler who own Monty. Well we were able to buy "Sparky" she belongs to my eldest Son Sean, 11 months later we were encouraged to enter Sparky in the same show at Gulgong in 2002, well she did us proud taking Bitch CC, BOB, Puppy In Show , not bad for a 'pet', and the rest is history, so Libertybrook Border Collies was established.
Having come from a showjumping and eventing and hacking background, dog shows were a huge mystery, but after a very steep learning curve, and lots of trials and errors along the way, we somehow managed to Title Sparky who is now known as "Aust CH Trucharm Royal Liberty". I must say I would not have been able to achieve what I have so far with out all the great help from Kylie Leslie, Neale & Linda & Courtney Butler, and also Wayne and Tricia Nicholls from Monochrome Border Collies, from whom I purchased my next show dog and my best mate, Chief, for whom I would be lost without him, we have taught each other so much, Chief is a multiple BOB,CC, Class In Group winner, also multiple placings at Sydney Royal, "Aust CH Monochrome Artic Fire".
We also have another GR CH Monochrome Currency Creek, Grand daughter here as well, bred along Minimbah lines, Phoebe "Danari Desert Rose" she is by Beauglen One for the road X CH Danari Diamond Rose, Phoebe is a very busy bright girl and can be a handful sometimes, but she is a delight to have here, and she is also nearing her CH title.
2005 we had our first litter, From CH Trucharm Royal Liberty X CH Monochrome Maestro, from this litter of 5, three are being shown with " SUPREME CH Libertybrook Forevernow" gaining his Aust CH title at 13months and 1 day, Robbie is a
His brother Finn, "CH Libertybrook Cold Chisel" and his sister Amber, "CH Libertybrook Fallen Angel", who were retained here, have done exceptionally well for novice handler like myself, both are multi BOB, CC, RuBOB, Class In group winners, and placings at Sydney Royals, also multiple placings at Border Collie Specialties.
We have now ventured into a new breed the "Black Russian Terrier", with the arrival of
Along with my Husband Phillip who is a terrific support, and our three sons who show on occasion, and also competed in Junior Handlers for fun, all the while we somehow have managed to squeeze in dog shows in between the boys sporting and school committments and family gatherings and business obligations, we have met some great people and made some wonderful lifelong friends since we started showing, its been and still is a huge learning experience,
We look forward to a bright future at Libertybrook Border Collies and Russian Black Terriers,
*** Our aim is to breed beautiful temperaments,
