No one has the right to phsyically or mentally abuse another person and in Tasmania there is in place a law for being Safe at Home!

Now for my story:

I was married to my husband Joseph Lamont Shorrock for nearly 19years, he was the most loving person you could hope to meet when we first met and through to nearly the first year of our life together

We had met when he was stationed at 3RAR at Holsworthy and the first time he hit me was such a shock so out of the blue, Joe kept saying he was sorry that

he didn't mean it but soon it became a habit. We went down to Tasmania to met his parents Joseph & Isabella Lamont Shorrock and it started lovely but it wasn't long

before Joe grabbed me and started to hit the back of my head into the wall with both of his parents watching on and only when a large hole was made did his father Joseph

put a stop to it and then yelled at me for the damages done to the house and demanded payments to fix the wall, it was then that I started to blame myself for Joe losing his temper

because how could anyone stand by and watch this happen. It was long after this I was diagnosed with Epilepsy

When ever he broke something that had belong to my family it was always my fault or it was accident but never would he break anything of his and I soon learnt that

Joe had two faces one he showed to the outside world that was loving and giving and the one he showed me that was mentally and phsyically abusive.

I had miscarried 4 times after being violently kicked in the stomach and nearly lost my youngest son when I was 20 weeks but this time I had rolled into a ball and protected my stomach but I still ended up in Hostipal until the threat of miscarriage had pass, then not long after my son was born I was back in hostipal, Joe had drove his fist into my nose and instead of blood I had clear fluid pouring out Joe told the doctors that my oldest son had accidently hit me in the nose with his head, Both Joe and I was lucky a little bit harder and he would have killed me.

I had try numours times to get someone to help me but his army mates never believe so did nothing

I've been choked, had pillows rammed onto my face and held down while fighting for breath, punch kicked and poked in 2000 he retired from the army and we moved to Bothwell Tasmania for a new start with no violence, he had gotten a job with the department of Justice as a Prison Officer at Risdon and is still working there.

The abuse didn't go away even his mother Isabella who lived around the corner from us got him to attack me, I was thrown against the wall and choked with him yelling at me, then my beloved Alaskan Malamutes started to be let out no matter what I did until Aust Champion Huskypak Stormchaser(Chase) was shot dead.

At the Prison Joe's nick name is Long neck because he bragged about how much he drunk when driving the 50 minute drive home which is 5 800mls bottles.

One night he came home and I had been in bed asleep and he tore the sheets of me and ripped my nightie off and started to drag me off the bed yelling out you go you fat ugly bitch

I fought and got under the bed and clung on for dear life and whlist under the bed something snapped in me I started to cry and couldn't stop and when I did stop the panic attacks started. I decided to try again to get help and went down to the Bothwell Police station and told the constable what had happen and all he did was asked why stay

but did end up coming down but all he did was talk and that was it, now to last year for 17 weeks I was getting calls from a woman day and night with Joe aasking why didnt this so call woman ring when he was at home and that it was all in my head but the last straw came on Sunday night the 5th dec 2005 My son had rung Joe up telling him about our day he had drive a tractor,milked a cow and rode a horse all for the first time.

Within 20 minutes after my son hung up that I got another call from this woman saying she knew where we lived and said my son using his name was next and that I would never see him alive again then she gave me our address, It took me over forty minutes to get hold of Joe and told him of the threat she made.

On Monday morning I had rung the police and told them of the calls and the threat and made arrangements for them to come out but before they did Joe came in and at first seem fine he want to talk to his son but when I told him I had report the call to the police he got violent and shoved me into the wall threw the coffee table into the air yelling for his son to get outside but our son didn't go but stay where he was so Joe try again to get pass me but couldnt and when he left I locked the doors I had rang 000 this time and the police came Joe

was charged with assault and it was found out the he had put his lover up to making the calls and the threats to  his son.

Joseph Lamont Shorrock goes to trial on the 19th July.

I'm a great believer in what goes around comes around; His Father Joseph Shorrock snr is serving a 31/2 year jail sentence with a non parole of 21/2years at Hayes Prison Farm for CHILD MOLESTING and is due for release as early as 13th Feb 2007 or as late as 13th Feb 2008 and his Mother Isabella Lamont Shorrock was found guilty and placed on a good behavour bond.

And to this woman you wasn't his first lover nor his last nor were you the first one he has got to make abusive calls so remember this when the shoe is on the other foot and you recieve the same kind of treatment you put myself and my son what goes around comes around

Early last year I was diagnosed with PTSD and will have to learn to live with it for the rest of my life Thanks to Joe.

I had accepted a plea bargin from Joe so on the 7th September 2006 he plead guilty to assault.

A few months ago my former lawyer Liz Avery informed me that Joe's lawyer had contacted her and said that Joe had been here to this site and had wanted it remove but when ask if it was true he had reply yes and was told that there was nothing he could do, I must admit it shocked me because the only other person he had admitted  all the  abuse to is the counsellor that is treating me for the PTSD.

And as to the other woman's ID we now know who she is.

There have been threats written in the guestbook here some I have choosen to leave up, others myself or my sons have deleted but all have been traced and have been passed on to the police.

These threats using either Donna(his sister's name who has no contacted with her ex family because of the violence she had suffered from the shorrock family) and Julie have been trace to the Dept of Defence. Where both Joseph and the woman who made the phone calls work as ARes's.

On Saturday 5th  May 2007,I had been at a dogshow when my 15year old son had approached quickly telling me and pointing out where Joseph Lamont Shorrock was hiding, he stood up and left, but we soon found him hiding in the shadows on the other side, I would like to thank the committe members for acting so quickly and keeping us safe.

And whislt at the library on Thursday 24th May approx 150pm, I heard hey Karen I looked up and saw the other woman who wave at me, and then Joseph Lamont Shorrock, they sat behind me, I stopped what I was doing and left,

On Wednesday the 30th  we found our car with white stuffed thrown on the drive's side window

Now we are getting a investation to find out what happen to the 5 year Family Violence Order that was part of his plea bargin that I accepted, and hopeful will have that in place soon
