About Us

I first saw an Alaskan Malamute in 1989 and vowed that when the time was right, I would share my life with this proud and noble breed. My first Malamute “Jewell” came into my life in 1993 and the rest as they say, is history. I had bred a few litters and did not like what I was producing. Apart from the conformation faults, I also had quite a few health problems so I decided that breeding was not for me. Let somebody else do it!

I really missed the showing side of it so each year I would attend the Royal Melbourne Show and the AMCV Specialty show just to see is there was anything I liked as I really wanted to get back into showing again. At the 2000 Royal Melbourne Show, I found what I was looking for.

The most beautiful Alaskan Malamute bitch entered the show ring and I fell in love with her. She was Shania, Aust Ch Aspen Myst Aussie Star (Imp USA). I contacted one of Shania’s owners, Sue White in Queensland when I heard that Shania had been mated and enquired about a puppy. Unfortunately, there were none available so I decided to wait until Shania’s next litter as I didn’t want to settle for anything else.

A short time later I was in Queensland on holiday and Sue rang me to find out if I was still in Queensland as one of Shania’s puppies was coming back from New South Wales. Apparently the new owners didn’t like her. That puppy was Skye and that is how she became a part of my family.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Sue & Steve White and Rodney Surawski for entrusting her to me and for providing me with a solid foundation for my own kennel and also for your friendship and support over the years.

My philosophy is to breed quality Alaskan Malamutes by using only the very best imported lines. I am particularly committed to health issues in the Alaskan Malamute, hence my Independent Thyroid Register for Alaskan Malamutes was launched in January 2004, totally devoted to thyroid issues in the Alaskan Malamute. This was inspired by Niki who was out of my very first litter back in 1994. Niki unfortunately crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February 2004 and my Thyroid Website is dedicated to her. I was also responsible for bringing to Australia, the TgAA Auto-antibody test for Auto-immune Thyroiditis, the hereditary form of the disease. It goes without saying that health issues are something I am extremely passionate about so my dogs will receive the appropriate clearances before being considered for my breeding program. All my dogs will have AMCA Chd ratings, hip & elbow dysplasia passes, current eye certification, be thyroid clear and have sound temperaments. Why settle for anything less?
