Maremma Newsletter
Maremma Newsletter The newsletter comes out four times a year; March, June, September and December and the cost is $25 It is called Mostly Maremmas because most of the members have a Maremma, but we do have members with other livestock guardian breeds, but a lot of the information could apply to all dogs. The editor is Chris Wood and any questions or opinions are welcome. Are you the right person to own a Maremma? There are a few things to consider. First off it might look similar to a golden retriever but its character is totaly different. A Maremma likes to be doing something, it will not sit around all day and wait for you to come home from work. If it can be out in the field with other animals that is the ideal situation, but it can be a companion providing someone is home most of the time. The Maremma likes children, but will not share its food. Children should be taught not to touch the food for the dog. The dog thinks that it is superior to children much like a Nanny. It likes to think it is the boss or at least equal to its owner. The Maremma will surprise you with its intelligence.
