Buying a puppy
BUYING A PUPPY It is important that when you wish to add a new member to your family...a puppy that is...that you research the breed and are committed for the life span of that puppy. It is terrible to have to try and rehome a puppy because your circumstances have changed. When you decide to bring home your new family member...it is for LIFE. yes there are times when our lives are interrupted due to work committments, changes in jobs/houses etc but remember when planning these changes your puppy is part of the family and as such should be considered. Another issue to consider when purchasing a new puppy is "How much support" the breeder is willing to offer. It is imperative that you listen to what the breeder has to say. Reputable breeders spend years developing sound, healthy pups, using specific diets and exercise regimes. They know at what stage your puppy should be doing things, changing diets, going through growth spurts. These are all very important changes in a pups developement and you should be able to ring the breeder and discuss any issues arising. Remember to always adhere to Council rules and regulations when you bring home a new pup. Remember to have it Council registered. There is nothing worse than a breeder being rung because a dog has been found and it was sold months previously but the new owners had not changed the micro-chip details. Imagine your pet lost and no-one knowing who to contact to have it returned to you. I expect all puppies from Mulgadane kennels which are not used in a specific breeding programme to be desexed. Pet puppies are all sold on a desexing refund agreement. If you own a dog and are not a breeder it is wise to have him/her desexed. This makes life easier for yourself, your pet and the neighbourhood. It takes a huge amount of time and dedication to rear a litter of pups and find them the best of homes...it is certainly not a money making venture when done well, so I say leave it to the experts and enjoy your pet.
