I have been involved with German Shepherds for over 30 years,my Grandmother having Bred & Showed all over Australia for another 30+ years, so I have been born & bred into them. My Grandmothers Kennel Prefix was "Dulverton Kennels" and her last 2 dogs being "Aust.Ch.Treves Rajah" and "Aust.Ch.Treves Karen". My Kennel was previously "Anntonne" until due to ill health I had to let my beloved dogs go.My first German Shepherd Dog was (Sarge) "Balhomen Rajah", who I purchased from Mr. & Mrs. Nightingale. His Sire & Dam were: Karraine Kameron & Karraine Katareena. My next 2 were purchased from Beowulf Kennels in N.S.W. and they were Beowulf Katerina and Beowulf Quinlan,(Tasha & Pedro) (both these dogs had superb temperments & bone that they passed onto their offspring).Pedro was a large very handsome Black, with just Red features, taking after his Sire "Gaunt Pedro (imp U.K. by the then Karman Foundation). He sired beautiful puppies rich in pigment, bone & superb temperment. These are just some of the dogs from times gone by. The last, passing away at 17 years of age was Misty and her Pedigree name was " Tarquinius Kirsta" and she was from Queensland, Her Sire was:Aust.Ch. Edensmuir Vibart of Amulree(imp.U.K.)and her Dam was:Jemjamchee Tandy.I mated her to "Eng.& Aust.Ch. Royvon's Giaconda" who was a Double Junior Warrant and also Best in Show at Crufts, she produced 4 puppies 3 bitches & 1 dog. I sold 1 bitch to Bev Dineen and I think she was the last dog that she showed. Her name was "Anntonne Anaconda Star". I kept the other 3. The best out of these was a bitch "Anntonne Anaconda Girl" "Cissy", she did really well in both Allbreeds & Speciality and also as a brood bitch. During this time I also purchased a dog off Thelma Gray (Author, Judge & Successful Breeder in England) he was "Rozavel Bushranger" sire: Ausscot Beau Geste (Imp.U.K. Exp. America) Dam: Rozavel Archduchess. He did really well as a youngster, but grew to be to heavy set for those days, but he produced some lovely offspring with really good bone, pigmentation, colour & with his superb temperment. After being out of them for so long and my health improved I decided to purchase another dog. I went to see Judy Stanley of NIACHI KENNELS (mostly known for years of breeding Top BassetHounds) here in Tasmania and she had a lovely litter by her 2 dogs: "AUST. CH. NIACHI MAC THE KNIFE" and "LEDIAN LONDONDERRY LADY" . I purchased ERIC "NIACHI SIR SCORPIO Z (0/0)"MULTI GRADED: VERY GOOD and he is what a German Shepherd should be.He holds his own in both rings and whatever the result he does us proud because to us he is a Champion, where it counts the most, in his very important work that he enjoys the most. That is looking after and making happy his special friends at the two Nursing Homes where he and now "Rab" are one on one Therapy Dogs and also Group Therapy Dogs. They go with me, working within the Community, with the Elderly & Young alike, visit Schools, go to Tafe,Formal Functions. WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN PERMISSION TO MARCH IN THE CITY OF GLENORCHY'S R.S.L. A.N.Z.A.C. DAY MARCH, representing ALL WAR SERVICE DOGS FROM ALL WARS. ERIC & RAB will wear Drizz-a-bone coats with the Veterans Memorial Centre Emblem, K9 Patches from as many Services as I can get hold of. This is special to me as my Grandmother & Grandfather donated German Shepherds to Service. I and other Community members are in the process of erecting a "War Service Dog" Memorial, which will be sculptured out of a 5foot Macro-carpa pine tree and Eric & Rab's photo's are being used by the sculpturist to do this. It will be a 5 foot German Shepherd sitting in harness displaying all Service Emblems and handlers whose dogs did not come home can have their plaques placed on the Memorial. It will be the First in Tasmania and the only one that is in an actual Memorial Centre alonside their human servicemen, for whom they gave their lives. ERIC & RAB will form part of a GUARD OF HONOUR at the Unveiling in which a Vietnam Vet will Unveil the Memorial, as he actually had a dog in Vietnam, but all tracking dogs sent there by Australia were labradors, but his Platoons Mascot was a Half-bred Black German Shepherd named Rommel. All the hard work to see the Memorial come to tuition, was destroyed by Arsonists, who not only destroyed the Memorial but also the Veterans Memorial Centre with all the Memorabillia and History of Service Personel Past. After purchasing ERIC and having the heartbreak of him failing his hip X-rays we rang Sue & Larry at Iccara to change our order from a Girl to a Boy from their Magnificent Import "RAVDANSEN'S ORVAR' and he arrived just before Christmas 2003. Rab is totally different to Eric in nature. Eric is very laid back, gentle & assesses all situations with his uncanny understanding. Where Rab is a very active and full on, but is also very gentle when he needs to be and is such a Very Handsome Boy. Rab at 6.5mths won Challenge Dog & BEST OF BREED & also has 3 V.P's & 1 V.G from 4 Speciality Shows so far, now has many V.G's. Multi -Excellent & now Excellent Merit so his full 3year old Titled Name is:"ICCARA TOMTOM TURNAROUND 'A'1/3,'Z'0/0,H-NEG,BSCL1,EX:-MERIT, MULTI-EXCELLENT"(4 to date 29/8/07)AND ON THE 22ND OCTOBER 2006 AT THE TASMANIAN STATE BREED ASSESSMENTBECAME"2006 TASMANIAN STATE VICE-SEIGER "2ND.
