Silvacharm Maltese Kennels located in Melbourne , was established  in 1979 after  the purchase of a pet known affectionately as ‘Mac’ in 1978.  Mac didn’t reach any great heights in the showring but he did start the love affair with the breed and the world that is dog showing.

 In 1980 after well and truly being bitten by the show bug, I purchased a dog from NSW,

Snowgold Charity Boy. ‘Cain’ was a first for me in so many ways.  First In Show winner (RUBIS), First BIG winner, First champion and sire of the First Silvacharm champion. Cain had well and truly given me a taste of success!

 The early 80’s saw the first homebred champion: Silvacharm Suga N Spice.  Kimberley held her own in the ring and although not a producer did give me a great thrill in carrying the Silvacharm prefix.

  During this time, breeding was not of prime importance, as  I preferred to campaign dogs rather then breed, although the kennel did produce the odd litter. The 80’s saw the acquisition of Velette Gypsy Roselea bred by Jenny Sayers.

 ‘Ashleigh’ was a beautiful bitch excelling in movement, coat, pigmentation and was very typical of her sire Ch. Sweetemper Sensation.  Although not bred by Silvacharm we maintained a close association as she was out of a Silvacharm bred bitch.  Ashleigh provided the first of many highlights. She was my first Specialty BIS winner and Royal Challenge winner.  At the time of her retirement she had amassed an impressive CV of awards which included multi In Show’s and  20 BIG’s.

 Other notable winners followed and included Ch. Monthaven Kimba Lad a winner of two Royal BOB’s, RUBIS, Multi Class in Shows and BIG’s, his sister Ch. Monthaven Rio Chantel.

  Then in early 1992 I was  fortunate to acquire a little dog whom took me on a  journey of which dreams are made.  He was Ch. Estelam Evenstar.

 ‘Webster’ was bred by the late Melody Cowan of Queensland and was indeed a true showman. He had an incredible attitude and exuded type, balance and soundness in spades. 

 During this time and after the untimely death of his breeder/owner I was fortunate to be offered  Ch. Esetlam Emogwhy an established multi BIS winner in Queensland .

  Ch. Evenstar and Ch.Emogwhy were consistently shown against each other AND took me on a magical ride with many memorable wins, including BEST IN SHOW BRISBANE ROYAL SHOW 1994 and RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW MELBOURNE ROYAL 1994.  Both were MULTI BIS winners, MULTI BISS winners and at the time of their retirement had in excess of 50 BIS awards and over 120 BIG awards.  Their appeal extended not only to judges throughout but from all over the world.  They are the foundation on which the kennel has now sets it benchmark. 

 Following soon after were a number of Silvacharm champions: namely Ch. S. Lady In White (owned by S. Stocks,NSW), Ch. S. Ashes O Roses and her multi BIS winning sons Ch. S. Social Scandl and Champane N Ice. The family tradition continues with  their sons Ch. S. Tales To Tell (BIS, BOB Melbourne Royal and multi BIG winner) and the latest champion Ch. S. Coconut Ice who at just 2 years old is a multi specialty BIS, RUBIS All breeds and multi BIG winner.

 The kennel is a small concern, breeding for the sole purpose of exhibiting dogs of the highest quality and which conform to the ANKC standard.  Silvacharm prides itself on producing puppies that excel in sweet tempers, type, balance and above all soundness.
