Knockout
Knockout is 19 1/4'' and 53lbs yard weight. As I have had a few breeders and people who have had bull breeds for many years get in contact with me recently about the type of dogs and pedigrees that I have, I thought Knockout would be a good place to start as he is always noticed wherever he goes. As always a good place to start in any pedigree is the dam. Knockouts dam Slickaz Irish Amber is a double inbred bitch out of Spahawk Amber Jack X Warree Slick Stuff. Slick Stuff is the result of a dog (Spahawk Amber Jack) out of Red Wallace being mated to a Lord Odens daughter mated to a bitch (CH Warree Slick Chick) from Lord Oden mated to a Red Wallaces daughter. We then mated Slick Stuff back to her sire giving us the superb bitch Slickaz irish Amber. In my opinion this bitch was a real cracker and I knew that I would have to find a dog that would match her good looks and pedigree when the time would come to mate her. After alot of searching we came up with the dog Ch Cherabah Ironside. Ironsides pedigree interested me greatly as I was looking for a dog that I could put to Irish that would give me a dog with hi-bred vigor. I believe that hi-bred vigor can be achieved when mating two seperate animals within the same species from two completely different inbred bloodlines. Ironsides bitch line interested me as his dam was a result from a G/father / G/daughter mating from a full brother / sister mating to the same amimals that appeared on the 5th and 6th line of Irish's pedigree. I believed that the same animals in both pedigrees 5 and 6 generations removed would have little effect on the outcross blood between the two pedigrees. Ironsides sires line on the maternal line also jelled in with the his maternal line which only made his sires sires line open in the pedigree. So we decided the 30 hrs drive would be well spent. Was Knockout worth it ? You bet ya. It is believed that if hi-bred vigor is achieved the animals concerned are bigger stronger and smarter than most of its own species. Knockout certainly is a powerful and awfully smart dog. I remember at 7mts he ran down a scrub turkey pretty good for such a young pup. We kept Knockout for two years but we finally had to find him a home as he was knocking the ageing Red Wallace around too much. I had both of them out in the bush one day and Knockoput hit Wallace that hard that he sent him flying. When I got home we decided that we would have to find him a home. But not anybody was going to get this Fella. He would have to go to a home where he would be well looked after and that they understood what type of dog that they would have on their hands. Then I remembered one of my mates Jim had just shifted to a farm just west of Bunderberg about three hrs from my place. Jim knew me years ago and he had met my old white dog and he said when he was settled would I give him a dog but he wanted a real "Good'un". I gave him a ring and I told him about Knockout. He was very keen and asked me could he match my old white dog I said I couldn't guarantee that but I'm sure he would be very pleased. So he drove down to have a look at him. I can still remember the first thing Jimmy said when he first spotted Knockout, "I've been waiting 15years for this dog". Being the good mate that I am realizing it was a little cool I knew Jimmy would have to have the windows up for the drive home so I gave Knockout a good slab of good old fashioned raw liver just before Jimmy arrived. A few hours later when Jimmy got home he told me all was well but the drive home took a little longer than he expected. He had to keep pulling over to dry out his watery eyes and clear his nostrils. Hey what are mates for. So now it was time to mate Knockout. I had to get a bitch with blood that jelled with his as I did not want to open up the pedigree. So I acquired Slickaz Ucanget litter sister to the beautiful dog Ch Slickaz Warlord and Ch Slickaz Dark Angel. Their dam was Warree Slick Stuff who is also dam of Knockouts inbred dam. So the pedigree jells through both Knockouts and Ucangets maternal lines, exactly the same actually. This produced Warree Slick Deva. Warree Bears Fordred and the clever Warree Wizard CDX. CCD. just to name three of the six pups out of this litter. Warree Slick Deva I sent to a friend interstate and when she was 9 months old she had a fight with their other 3 year old staff putting the older bitch in the vets. They said it wasn't her fault and that the older bitch tried to dominate her. Bad move I'd say on the part of the older bitch. I sent down the airfare and told them to fly her straight back as now it can only end in tragedy. When I got to the airport what can I say I was more than pleasently surprised when I saw this little packet of mischief with the most intense expression in her eyes that I had seen in a stafford for quite some time. So when it came time to mate her we decided to use Warree Flame Thrower whose sire is Spahawk Amber Jack who is a son of Red Wallaces but his pedigree gets better when you realize that Amber Jacks G/mother is a result of a Father / Daughter mating from a G/father / G/daughter mating to Wallys Father and that Warree Flame Thrower has an inbred Red Wallace bitch line. So when we mated Flame Thrower to Slick Deva, Amber Jack being the sires sire and also he produced both bitch lines on the dam side. This mating gave us the ever flamboyant Warree Judge Red who I have just mated back to his 3/4 sister Bojharni Flamin Bewdy who both have the same sire and their dams are litter sisters. Three dog and three bitch pups these pups are only 5mths old but there looks like a fair bit of promise in them. We then mated Deva to a dog with an almost identical pedigree to hers Warree Prize Fighter another six pups Warree Aeries Nightmare, Warree Nuggets Prize and Warree Petite Peat being three of them. Then Jim rang he was so impressed with Knockout that he wanted a mate for Knockout preferably one that didn't eat liver. I told him he could have Deva on the condition that he mated her back to her sire Knockout. This time five healthy pups with one bitch taking my eye from the start Warree Shadow Dancer who has gone to people who have owned and bred staffords for nearly 20years. I have not seen her in the flesh since she has left home but from all accounts she is progressing nicely a bitch that oozes breed type that is well adapted to her family which includes two young girls. In all the matings mentioned above I have seen no filial degeneration or drag. All dogs and bitches mentioned above can be seen on my web-site. I am not saying I am an expert or anywhere near it these are just my own experiences and observations. Mark Bootle Sunshine Coast, QLD, Australia Phone : 07 54489307 Email : warreesbt@live.com.au |
