*Wei's are a wonderful breed, but their not the right dog for everyone, ask yourself are you energetic, do you already go for daily walks, can you fit into your busy day an hour walk if you have a baby or young children.

* Weimaraner's grow very quickly, between the time you pick your puppy up to 6 months of age, if you have small children playng and running around the yard, you do not want a young Wei running amuck with them *THATS WHEN ACCIDENTS HAPPEN*.You need to teach your puppy from day 1, that they are not allowed to chase, grab or jump on the children, they are to walk, sit and be gentle in around the kids. AND NEVER NEVER leave small children to play with any breed of dog without a responsible adult present.

*He is intensely loyal wishing at all times to be in the company of humans, separation for long hours will lead him to believe he has been abandoned and he will fret, showing his/her disapproval by being noisy, destructive or both. No matter how beautiful you think they are or how much you want one, leaving a weimaraner at home alone for hours on end will only result in frustration for the dog and anger for you when you return and discover the mess. So if you or someone in your family, are not at home for the most part of the day, do not have a Weimaraner unless you are prepared to put in the extra mileage with the dog when you are home.

*Wei's are strong dogs and will need a well fenced secured yard, 6ft fence won't stop them either if they don't want to be there. They can also be quite an excavator and have a hole dug the size of a wheelbarrow and be gone in seconds. They will do all these things when they have pick up a scent, bored, suffering from anxiety because your not there, wanting exercise or relegated to the backyard and forgotten.

*Wei's excel at obedience, tracking, agility and some have gone into endurance. a good obedience club will teach you how to be a leader of the pack which is very important to the Wei. If a Wei feels that you are not a strong leader they will happily fill that position, and make your life hell. Obedience will also help socialize and teach them good manners.

These are really good as the Wei loves sleeping in a den like situation it is also good for toilet training when you first bring your puppy home as they don't like to soil in their beds. A puppy who associates a crate with den security suffers less anxiety overall.
