WEIJARRA KENNELS

A Little About Us

MYBE & SULTON

I can remember as a little girl sitting in the car with my mother waiting for dad to come out of a shop, when a man walked by with this lovely silver dog on a lead, I was quick to ask my mother if she knew what breed of dog it was and to my dismay she didn't. I also asked quite a few other adults over the next few weeks nobody could tell me what breed of dog it was. Needless to say I was intrigued at the time, but as the weeks went by then the years, finally I was a mother myself with two daughters and a son.

My eldest daughter was around thirteen when she wanted me to meet the lady that had just moved in around the corner from us (that had silver dogs) I can tell you I was around there real quick. I finally found out that they were Weimaraner's, over the years that neighbour and I became good friends and still are today. We would go horse riding together and take the dogs with us, there were three dogs at that time Irock, Zenna and Missie. I really got to know the breed in that period of time they were very devoted to my friend protective yet at the same time friendly once introduced to a stranger, (I wanted one).

When Zenna (Aust Ch. Bromhund Zenna) and Iroc (Bromhund Iroc) had a litter of puppies I was just as excited as my friend. While she was working during the day I would help out by feeding the puppies for her. Eight weeks came around real quick and the puppies were ready to go "I wanted to cry" as I wasn't getting one we already had two dogs and my husband didn't want another dog or so he told me. So it was with much surprise when he sugested going for a coffee at my friends place, there they presented me with a baby puppy for my birthday, she was beautiful (Aust Ch Jaegerweis Be My Girl) I named her Mybe. She lived up to that name she was my girl, my little shadow followed me everywhere.

Six months after that my husband was transferred to a little town called Coppabella what a culture shock after living in Caboolture, there I decided I would have a go at showing my girl, so I joined the C.C.C. packed up the car with camping gear, the dog and don't forget the kids and we were off. As most of the shows were 4 hrs away they were big weekends but we had a ball, the kids decided that they wouldn't mind having a go at Child and Junior handling, that was a bit hair raising at first but much to my surprise they became really quite good at it. my secound eldest quallified in Junior handlers to compete at the Brisbane Royal which made mum really proud.

It was decided then that we should look for a mate for Mybe, we looked around and found a lovely bitch Aust Ch. Bromhund Ranbini Shar that was being mated with Aust Ch Hollowhills The Sorcer (AI). I put my name down for boy and kept my fingers crossed, 63 days later the litter was born and there were two boys, hence along came Sulton (Aust Ch Sharlani Badr Aldinhasan) and Weijarra Kennel was started.

Now I'm a grandmother of three Tamika 7yrs, Tyler at the terrible two's and Paige just over the 12mths, and they all like to visit Nanna and Grandad nearly every day of the week, mind you I think the dogs are the attraction Tamika is currently honning her skills for the show ring she usually likes to get them on the lead and run around the yard with them. Tyler just loves to get into everything he shouldn't and Harley (Aust Ch. Gostwind Just Jazz) just loves to help him out in that department whatever Tylers into Harley has to have his nose in it as well what a pair.  Needless to say the dogs are excellent with the kids.

Over the years we have met some really lovely people that show and have become friends with quite a few of them. In 2003 Weijarra Kennels had another litter due. when I had a phone call from a Maxine Parker wanting a puppy to show. After meeting Maxine I knew the puppy was going to the right home, Maxine became a member of the C.C.C. and started coming to the shows with me. Over the last couple of years we have become the best of friends, and even though she has now moved over 200klm away to their new property and has started up her own kennels Ykarumba we keep in contact every week and meet up to go showing still, between us we now take 7 Weis away with us.

Bill and Chance

Currently I have Two Boys (Aust Ch Bromhund Graphic Charge) Chance is a lovely natured dog and is a pleasure to have around the house. He is also Top Dog of the yard, and my husbands faviourite as you can see by the picture. I will add to that I could never have accomplished all that I have with my dogs without his patience and understanding, he has been very supportive over the years.

(Aust Ch. Gostwind Just Jazz) Harley well what can I say about that boy, life is never dull with him around he patiently waits for me to come home from work so he can take my work bag upstairs for me and look out if the others try to take it off him he thinks thats his job. Trouble is he thinks he should help everybody out that comes through our gait, by wizzing off upstairs with their bags. We are working on that habbit, as some people just don't appreciate their bags being stollen. Thank you to Ghostwind Kennels for my boy he adds a sparkle to my day with his antics.

Our girl (Aust Ch. Bromhund Dictates Emall) Kyrah from the first day we picked her up from the Airport she stole our hearts with those big blue eyes the kids thought she was beautifull "and she is". My youngest Adam really spoilt her, he would smuggle her into his bed at night and thats were she would sleep. She gets so excited when he comes home to visit and especially if he's sleeping over because he will still smuggle her into the bedroom to sleep on the bed for the night. She is very social likes to say hello to everyone and is a dream to show, she can just about do it by herself, all I have to do is worry about getting around the ring myself.

To date we have only had the short haired Weis, but the last couple of years the longhair has caught my eye I inquired about getting a longhair to show from the Bromhund Kennels unfortunately they didn't have any female puppies, but instead she offered me an adult Wei (Aust Ch. Bromhund Winning Edge) for 12mths to show and have some fun with. Gabbie settled in with in a couple of days she is a delight to have around I get a giggle at some of the things she gets up to. She will sit on the end of my bed while I'm trying to brush my hair and put her foot on my shoulder as if to say are you going to do me next. She also likes to lay at my feet while I'm watching T.V. with her foot resting on mine, needless to say I have another Wei that likes to be right by my side. It's going to really hurt to send her back at the end of the year.

Over the years most of my dogs have come from the Bromhund Kennels and they have had personalty plus a true Weimaraner versatile and outgoing thank you to the Bromhund Kennel John, Rosemary and Susanne Mayhew for all your help over the years and for Chance, Kyrah and Gabbie life just wouldn't be the same without them.
