February 27th sees "Legend" gain his 1000pts that would have made him an Australian GRAND Champion if the rules had not changed on the January 1,2010 to specify that he must have a Best in Show or 4 x Best in Group (or 4 x 25pt challenges).  These new rules now discriminate against the rare breeds as they do not have the numbers to make 25pts challenges and it is almost unheard of for a Malinois to get a Best in Group.  "Legend", you are a GRAND Champion to us, officially or unofficially.

GSDCQ Double Open Specialty - Show #1, "Eli" places 2nd in Junior Dog (2 entries)

  • November 14th sees our first naturally hatched Indian Runner Ducklings.  "Gertie", the sitting mummy, has been nesting for just over 4 weeks and today she hatched 6 little ducklings, 2 blackish-brown and 4 yellow. The yellow ones will eventually be white and I think the other 2 will be brown like their mum. This is so exciting as indian runners do not brood, that is they don't hatch their eggs.  This is why I have been sending the eggs off to the incubator.  She still has 4 eggs that she laid about 2 weeks after the rest, and she is still happy to sit on them, so we will leave them to see what happens.  As soon as I download the photos, I shall pop them up on the "Ducky" page
  • After X-rays and a Veterinary Dental Specialist visit, "Shimmy" recieves a GSDCA Tooth Certifcate for a P2 that is broken under the gumline.  This apparantly must have occured when as a youngster, she stuck her head into the 'old girls' food bowl and recieved a hard bump to the face and a tooth through the muzzle.  But, it was a lesson learned......even if it was the hard way !!!!
