Warren and I have been training and trialling dogs in obedience for many years.  Warren is an avid lover of the German Shepherd Dog and I have fallen for the German Shepherd, the Belgian Shepherd Malinois and the Bouvier des Flandres.  All are Working Dogs and of very similar temperaments.  We are both Obedience & Endurance Test Judges, and Warren is also a licensed Tracking Judge and has been awarded the GSD Specialist Judges Badge for Obedience.

Warren started obedience trialling with his second GSD, Sabre and obtained his first obedience title in 1987.  He and Sabre carried on with obedience and then into tracking, eventually giving Sabre his AOC, Australian Obedience Champion, title. In 1996 Warren ventured into the conformation field with his first show dog, Carson.  After enjoying many successfull years exhibiting Carson at Specialty and All Breeds levels, he continued with his next dog, a bitch, Enya.  Carson retired from work due to an injury in 2003 and started a career in ANKC sheep herding in 2004 at the ripe old age of 9 years young.  Carson went on to become an Obedience Champion and both he and Enya excelled in the working fields

I have also been active in the Conformation ring with my Bouviers and Belgian Malinois and more recently, German Shepherds.  My first dog Prince, was an non-papered Bi-colour German Shepherd, who competed through to his UD obedience title and loved his agility. He was followed by Starr, a daughter of Carson. She was my "heart dog".  She hated the show ring, but could not put a foot wrong in the working fields. Before losing her at 14yrs, she had attained titles in all working fields available to her .... Obedience, Jumping, Agility, Endurance, Tracking, Herding and added her BH as well.

A new era started when Warren and I decided to go back into showing the dogs in 2010.  We both had new youngsters, Shimmer and Eli, and from there we moved on.  Breeding was the next step, so we gained our Breeders prefix, Castastar, and in 2011 we registered our first litter of German Shepherds.  This litter produced 2 very stunning girls, Lexi and Keisha.

Our breeding stock are all fully health tested for hip & elbow displaysia and since 2013 we now test for DM (Degenerative Myelopathy). Sound characters are of the utmost importance and we try to work all the dogs in some type of working field to show the true versatility of the German Shepherd Dog
